The first thing you notice when you see Virgil is that he stands inches below most of his fellow peers. Virgil has a lean build, and with him being short it is sometimes hard to pick him out in a crowd. He has short cut, black hair parted on his left side with two little tufts of hair that never seem to know if they want to go down or across and seem to just stick out most of the time. Virgil's eyes are a light, almost sky blue color with hints of green flakes near the irises.
He has a slightly upturned nose and a weak chin, of which he is super self-conscious.
Virgil never leaves the house without his light blue and gray plaid shirt, usually tied around his waist. He wears a pair of dark wash blue jeans and a gray t-shirt with a silhouette of a sunset on it. His shoes are a pristine white athletic style shoes. He also has a pair of black and white fingerless gloves which he wears all the time. Virgil carries a brown cross-body bag, that looks a little too big in comparison to the rest of his body, to store his valuables in on his journey.

Personality:
When Virgil sets his mind to something, it is hard to steer him from that goal. At times this gets him in trouble, as he feels he needs to succeed at everything he does and treats everything as a competition to be won, even when he is woefully unprepared. Virgil doesn't always think through his plans fully. He has been known to be impulsive and hasty even when the situation doesn't call for it. Because of this most people think he is impatient, intrusive, and a little rough around the edges. But by being around him for a little while, you can see this comes from a place of fervent eagerness to be around other trainers and Pokémon. Even though he is so passionate about his goals, he rarely lets it show on his face. Usually his eyes are darting around as he wears a neutral face that is often confused for disinterest or aloofness, but there is no hiding his excitement when he is interacting with Pokémon or watching battles.
Virgil's kindness and friendliness is most visible when he is around Pokémon, whether petting or playing with a Pokémon. Virgil doesn't have difficulty talking to other humans, but when there are Pokémon present he is even more awake and attentive. The presence of Pokémon seems calming to him and allows him to open up and be the real him. He also goes to Pokémon before humans when he is scared or needs to rant because their comforting faces rarely show disappointment or judgement.
Likes: (What does your character like and why?)
Bluk berries- Virgil's father used to make sweet treats with these berries for special occasions. The flavor of these berries brings back many good memories.
Trainers- Seeing all of the different people and Pokémon they choose to travel with fascinates Virgil. He loves seeing new Pokémon and creative strategies.
Dislikes: (What does your character dislike and why?)
The music played in the Pokémart- Growing up with his mother working in the Pokémart, Virgil visited the store many times. Needless to say, Virgil knows every track that plays in the store by heart and is absolutely tired of hearing these tunes.
Motivations: (What motivates your character in life?)
Trainers- Virgil is inspired by the drive and confidence of the trainers that have passed through the town and wishes to inspire other would-be trainers.
Traveling- Virgil has never left Vermillion City and, as such, is very excited to see new people, places, and Pokémon.
Fears: (What does your character fear in life? Can be phobia or anything else.)
Storms- Ever since he was little, the crash of thunder and flashes of lightning paired with roaring winds scared Virgil. This fear extended a little out to the use of high level electric type moves and Pokémon.
History:
Virgil was born in Vermillion City into a lower-middle class family of five. His family consists of his father, Joshua, his mother Margaret, younger sister Lisa, and younger brother Benji. Virgil's mother works at the local Pokémart as a clerk, while his father stays at home to keep the kids in check. As Virgil was growing up, he was drawn to Lt. Surge's Gym and the various personalities who would come through town to challenge him. While his parents enjoyed interacting with Pokémon, they could not understand why someone would want to be a trainer and were disappointed to hear that Virgil wanted to become a trainer instead of working with his mother at the Mart. For years they disapproved of this idea, because it was not a steady form of income for himself or the family to live on, but Virgil did not let it get to him.
When he got old enough to run errands for his father, instead of running straight there and back, Virgil would go talk to strangers about their journeys and their Pokémon. Theses "errand" runs ran long sometimes when he would stop by the gym to watch a trainer take on Lt. Surge, which were among his favorite memories growing up. On one of these trips, Virgil completely lost track of time, and after not returning for three hours, his father accompanied by his younger siblings came out looking for him to make sure he was okay. Virgil was found at the gym with a giant smile on his face that immediately faded when seeing his angry father. When his mother got home from work that day, Virgil got a stern talking to about responsibility and safety and a few more things that he can't remember because his mind was still back at the gym. What was clear was, now more than ever, his parents disapproved of his want to be a trainer.
Three months after the Gym incident, Virgil decided he wanted a closer look at Pokémon one better than just through the windows of the Gym or passing by a few enjoying the sunlight with their trainers. Virgil went into Diglett's Cave and was absolutely blown away by what he saw. He saw this thriving ecosystem of different, beautiful Pokémon interacting between each other is such an incredible way. Along the wall, he saw this Swinub lying on its side looking uncomfortable. As he approached, he saw that the poor creature had been injured from a battle with a trainer who must have passed by not too long ago. He cautiously approached the injured creature, who greeted Virgil with a small warning blast of cold. Frost formed oh the ends of Virgil's hair and Virgil flinched a little but continued his approach with open arms and telling it that he will get it some help, if it would allow him to approach. It squirmed a bit as Virgil struggle to pick it up and accidently touched a tender spot, but it seemed to trust him. Virgil then ran the Swinub to his mother at work and pleaded for her to help get it some medicine so it could feel better. His mother gave Virgil a potion to use on the Swinub and it seemed to help heal the injuries of the Swinub, enough that Virgil could take it to the Pokémon Center for a proper checkout and healing. This action, while terrifying his mother, also helped her realize his true love for Pokémon and helped his case for becoming a trainer.
